Valentine’s Day Tea Party for Kids
Valentine’s Day has never been a holiday my husband and I really celebrate. We find it kind of cheesy, all the restaurants are always so packed you can’t get in, and we just don’t like the pressure everyone puts on the holiday! That is, until we had a daughter. The last couple of years, she has really been in to Valentine’s Day (I think mostly because everything is pink and heart shaped), so I’ve been trying to make it special for her. This year, we decided to have a Valentine’s Day tea party, and I had so much fun planning and decorating for it!
Read on to see how I put this fun tea party together, and I’ll include links for everything I can. I’ll also add a section at the end with links to more affordable disposable tea party supplies if you’re not in to hoarding party decor like I am! *Note: most things from Hobby Lobby are sold out online, but my local store had a lot in stock, so check your store!*
**I earn a small commission if you purchase items through some of my links, but it doesn’t change the price you pay!**
The Island
I didn’t have any Valentine’s Day decor, so I had to start from scratch this year. I found some really cute things at Home Goods, Hobby Lobby, and Amazon. I decorated my island with a chiffon table runner (I bunched it up to shorten it and give it some texture), the adorable Valentine’s Day items I found at the stores I mentioned, heart placemats, and tied some strips of tulle around the bar stools. This area is used for extra seating, but I wanted to make it special so the girls that aren’t at the table don’t feel left out of the fun!
Here are the items I used with links for some:
Hobby Lobby
- Beaded garland
- Gnome bowl
- Heart shaped bowl
- Heart vase filler used as a scatter
- Heart floral pick
Home Goods
- Placemats
- Faux flowers in vase
- Stuffed gnome – similar here
- XOXO and gnome signs
Amazon
- Lavender chiffon table runner – 2 pack (I used the other one on the main table)
Joann
- Pink tulle by the yard (got 10 yards)
Candy: Valentine’s Day M&Ms and conversation hearts
The Dining Table
I absolutely love how the dining table turned out! It’s fun, whimsical, and most importantly, full of pink girly things! I was originally going to use thrifted floral plates, but I decided to go with paper plates I found on amazon instead because I thought that would be safer for a group of 7 year olds! I did get real tea cups though, and I think if you want to search for some vintage plates at a thrift store, that would be so cute and elevate the style even more!
Here’s a list of items I used on the table:
Amazon
Home Goods
- Heart placemats
- Pearl heart
- Colored tea cups
- “Love Always Wins” snow globe
- Faux flowers in vase
- Ceramic heart dish
- Tablecloth – Here’s another cute one on amazon
Hobby Lobby
- “Hello Love” sign
- Heart shaped bowl
- Heart vase filler used as a scatter
- Gnome figurine
- Heart floral pick

The Food Table
I don’t have any food out in the photos, but I’ll add them after we have the party. We plan to have heart shaped PB&Js, assorted Valentine’s Day candies, macarons, heart shaped veggie straws, pink and white popcorn, and a small charcuterie board with meat, cheese, and crackers. For the “tea,” I’ll be making a pink punch recipe I found on pinterest here.
These are the food display items I’m using:
Amazon
- Gold serving tray/stand set – This is worth the money, I’ve used it for several parties!
- Pink sequin tablecloth – Also good for little girl’s parties for several years!
Home Goods
- Floral tiered stand – similar here
Hobby Lobby
- Heart shaped tray
- Heart bowl
Party City
- Paper doilies or these from amazon
Affordable & Disposable Party Supplies
I found some really cute disposable tableware and decorations on amazon I’ll link here:
- Tea party tableware bundle
- Plastic 3 tier serving stand
- Hanging decorations
- Tea pot centerpiece
- 12 piece honeycomb decorations
- Decor set with balloons
- Banner
We can’t wait to have our little tea party! Besides eating, the girls will be doing a Valentine’s Day craft kit I found at Hobby Lobby, and just having fun! With a few adjustments (removing the Valentine’s Day decor mostly), this is a really cute theme for birthdays, baby showers, or bridal showers. My sister-in-law had a Bridgerton themed tea party for her bridal shower and it was absolutely gorgeous!
